That blog post I did last month on resilience and positivity last month really helped my mind set through the week, as this week has been all over the place for our little family.
2 days ago we had our world take a bit of a detour when our daughter was placed in a rhino brace for 3 months to correct her developmental hip dysplasia. She had been screened for it when she was an infant, yet those scans were clear. So were a little dismayed to hear that at just over one year old she would now be needing treatment for it.
We did some research, asked lots of questions of our specialist doctor, and found it is a lot more common than we realised. Catching it now will prevent her from issues with her hips as an adult. Statistics about our current adult population show that there is a large portion of adults who now have hip issues resulting from undiagnosed hip dysplasia, that could have been treated as babies or children. We would much rather her be in the brace now than face treatment or surgery as an adult.
Life for all of us has taken some adjusting. The win for us was that we made it through the day of the procedure that confirmed she would need the brace, then that we made it through our regular weekend routine with little change. The positivity we held, and that our daughter showed through the beginning of this journey, is incredibly warming and strengthening of our bond as a family.
This weekend we hope you take a win your had and celebrate it. Make it the spring in your step to start a new week.
Laughter and Sunshine!
